Mage Sloth- WIP

General / 24 November 2020

Another Satoshi Matsuura piece I started earlier this month. I took today off from Cu Chulain to finalize the sculpt since I haven't sculpted properly in a loooong while. Renders hot out of Zbrush. My goal wasn't to match the concept 1-1 but treat it like a sketch for a more refined stylized character. Concept at the bottom. Cheers!

Anatomy April Final - Hurling player

General / 03 May 2020

And here's the final post for Anatomy April- In glorious green, white  and orange.

Lessons / things I'd fix

  • There's some inconsistency in the treatment of the study- or indecision about the amount of body fat vs showing pure muscle
  • There's something odd in the shoulder and arms
  • The hands and feet are just blocked in, without much study
  • No wrinkle detail
  • Deeper dive into flexed vs relaxed muscles.

Anatomy April update

General / 29 April 2020

Just one more day before the end of the month and I call this practice done. It's not perfect, but for my first try at a anatomy study I'm calling it a success.

"Anatomy April!!"

General / 15 April 2020

Joining my friend Alex in his Anatomy April project, follow his blog and see his cool shit here: https://www.artstation.com/itchyninja/blog. For anyone interested there is rough schedule laid out. See it below:

Week 1: Block in gesture and proportions. Define Torso (specifically bony landmarks like the pelvis, rib cage, clavicles, scapula, etc)

Week 2: Define Limbs

Week 3: Define Hands and Feet

Week 4: Head/Hair

Anyway- here's the good stuff. Since Covid19 has basically put my sports season on hold, I decided to base "Anatomy April!!"practice off of a Hurling player. Hurling is Ireland's national sport and whatever your feeling about sportsball are you should check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biFcgUB98ns

Progress shots-

Week 1

Week 2

Plenty to fix and work on, but that's all for now!
