Dragon's Lair, Dirk Daring Fan Sculpt & 3D Print

This was a really fun side project for our Art Dept Secret Santa. In the past we've had everything from hand made plush, carved wooden robot cats to knited blankets and soap stone sculptures.

This year my SS was one of our directors and I wanted to make something extra special. As a base, I always make a wacom pen holder and incorporate a fandom of the giftee. For this director, a avid Don Bluth fan, I based the sculpt on Dirk Daring from Dragon's Lair using drawings and concept art found on the internet. Everything was done inside zbrush, from modeling to keying for the printing.

Many thanks to Beverly Crock for helping me with the printing software, Mari for the wonderful photos, the leadership team for letting me use the printer and to the rest of the AMAZING art team I get to work with everyday. Y'all are the absolute best people to work with and make each SS season exciting and inspiring.

Center is the underside of the Base. The 'finish' on the diamond is nail polish. I would have liked to have found a better solution for that, but ran out of time. The diamond fits a Wacom Pen.
